ion of the Consolidated Railway Coin-
may to condemn land in the line of
the proposed extension of the trolley
from Middletown to Portland, heard
some time before the railroad com-1
mieeioners andcontinued from time to
time, has been withdrawn. At the hear»
ing Attorney Robbins for the comm
pony claimed that the company had
the right to take land without consent
of the commissioners The road ex-
tension would be to the Air Line
bridge at Middletown over which the
trolleys Cross took run on the tracks
0f the steam road Attorney Gross took
issue with Mr. Robbins and the matter
has been under inquiry ever since. As
the city of Hartford has refused to
grant the company right to extend
trunks lawyers thought that the issue
would be determined by the outcome
of the application on the Mlddictown-
Portland ostension. The withdrawal of
the application means that the ques-
tion wiil'have to be determined by a
law suitln which the city‘of Hartford
will bo a party. The whole question
of the rights of the Consolidated Com
pany under its charter will probably
be deteiiiiined by the suit.
