All the rest of the estate is given
to her nephew. J Hobart Bronson. of
Waterbury, who in the answer of
Judge Bronson to the suit. brought by
his aunt. was alleged to have lusti
gated the proceedings. The will was
drawn September 10,1904 and the
witnesses were Nelson J. Walton. Nel-
son A. "Pomeroy and Marion Bentley.
all of Waterbury. The first of the
two codiclls bears date of May 15.
1905. The first article of the iii-st
codicil reads as follows:
‘Inasmuch as my nephew. Samuel
1.. Bronson. of New Haven. who has
taken care of a portion of my property
since the death of my brother. Dr.
Hemy Bronson. who lived in New Ha-
ven, and until .my revocation of agree-
ment- of September 10. 1904. now
makes claimthat he has rendered
these services 'without compensation,
l desire him to be paid a lessonuble
sum for such services and I give him
$10. 000'
The nephews. Samuel and Nathan 8.
Bronson. are given 81, 000 each by this
codicil as a token of love and affec-
tion “Theil names." the codicil says,
"were purposely omitted from my last
well and testament because of their
large inheritance from the estate-of
my brother.” The rest of the will is
ratified. This eodicil is signed by
Frederick J. Kingsbury, Nelson .l. Wel-
ton and Nelson A. Pomeroy. as wit-
passes.

the Mutual Life insurance Company.
His resignation was accepted by the
Board of Trustees and Frederic Grom-
well, treasurer of the Mutual. was
named as his temporary successor
While no definite announcement was
made regarding the selection of a per.
manentlsuccessor for Mr. McCurdy. it
presidency of the company had been
offered to James H. monies, who was
comptroller of the currency during the
Mr. lllckles is new president of the
Commercial National Bank, of Chicago.
McCurdy's resignation was submit-
ted to the board of trustees in a let.
ter which he declared that his condi-
tion of health imperatively demanded
his immediate retirement from active
business. He had been dissuaded
from covering his connection with the
company last June, when he reached
the age of seventy years. "only by the
serious disturbances which previously
had arisen in insurance affairs." in
view of these conditions he believed
it his duty to remain at his post. He
found. however, that he over-estimat-
ed his physical strength. and it was
upon advice of his physicians that he
tendered his resignation.
Mr. McCurdy's letter was as follows:
