New WESTERN-PACIFIC LINE.
SAN FRANCISCO, September 30.—
A dispatch to the Examiner from Los
Angeles says: George Gould is al-
ready building his line from San Fran-
cisco, to Los Angeles. which will form
a portion of his Western Pacific sys-
tern.
Where his efforts are to be seen is
in the construction of the Bakersfield
and Ventura Railway now being built
from Oxnard. in the direction of this
city. The line is supposed to be for an
electric rend, but is being constructed
with hoary steel. of standard guess,
so that it can easily be operated as u.
steam road. It was rumored that Hen-
ry T. Oxnard was behind this enter-
prise. but this has been officially de-
flied.
From an authoritative source. the
statement comes that the road is a
part of George Gould's plan to practi-
cally duplicate the Southern Pacific
system in California.
