the counsel of delay is in antagonism
to the educational interests of the
town. There never will come a time
when that cry can not and will not be
‘raised. it. will come mainly from
those who use it as a ready club to the

of securing what the town so much
needs, a well organized high school
in a suitable, building. A committee of
fifteen has devoted a good deal of
thought and work to this local prob-
lem for the past eleven months, An

cess and well adapted to the purposes
for which it has been selected. Sketch-
es have been prepard for at building
which the cemmitiee believes will
meet admirably the present needs of
the district as well as all requirements
for many years to come. In other
words, the way is paved for the town
to go forward and have a high school
btillding ready for occupancy on Sep-
tember 1. 1906. The plans in their
details and in their completeness are
worthy of study. The committee has
a right to ask that they have a thor-
ough and candid examination. and that
the whole project be decided on its
merits. If the town wants a high
school, it will vote for one. On the
part of those who in their hearts favor
a high school, there is but one logical
and consistent thing to do and that is
to act and vote in accordance with
their convictions. Above all, let us
keep close to the facts. lam sure
that. I speak the sentiments of the
committee on high school when i say
that they do not want their recommen-
dations to go through on any misrep-
resentations. Neither will they suf-
fer them to be defeated in lllfli. way.
Between us be the truth. That is
what the citizens of the town are. en-
titled to know. That is what the com-
mittee in its report and in its explan.

Settle Secession Movement.

fate of the Royal Arcanum in the east-
crn section of this country will prob
ably be decided tonight at a special

tees from the subordinate councils of
the order in Greater New York. to be
bold in the Johnston building. at Flat-
busli avenue and Fulton street, Brook-
lyli. William H. McCabe. past i‘e-
gent of Park Slope council, will pre-

This meeting is a consequence of
the decision of the supreme council
at the recent convention at Putin-Bay,
to have the new table of rates go in-
to effect on October 1. in spite of pro-
tests from almost every council in the
United States and Canada.
The main issue is. shall the 187.000
members of the Arcanum in New York
state, more than onehaif of the entire
membership. join their brethren in
Massachusetts in the movement to so-
ccde and establish a new organization.
