Ransome a well known Dan- bury Grand Army man, has offered to give twenty acres of land to the Grand Army and the Women's Relief Corps for a proposed home for old soldiers and their wives. The establishment of such a home is talked of, and it is proposed to locate it near Meriden if a certain piece of «land can be secured at desired terms. Mr. Ransome's land lies on high ground and is level and in excellent condition. It is four miles from Dam bury and is but a third of a mile from the railroad switch at Plumtrees. Mr. Ransome told a News reporter that there will be no conditions at- tached to the gift except that such a home shall be located upon the farm.
