Tarantula and Niagara IV to Have
Forty Mile contest Friday.
A big steam ya’cht race for 810. 000
stakes will take place off Bridgeport
on Friday over a. 4IL Rule course. The
contesting yachts wii be W. R. Van-
tlerhllt' a turbine yacht Tarnnt a and
Howard Gouids steam yacht Iagara
IV. These two boats raced last year
over a 30- mile course and the Niagara
IV won by three minutes and to ace-
onds. The race was for 86 000 a side
and It was Agreed at. the time that
there should be a return match and
Friday of this week has been chosen
as the day. As the race Is to he held
of! this city it will undoubtedly be
witnessed by many members of the
Bridgeport and Park City Yacht
clubs
The race will be under the manage
ment of the Regatta committee of the
New York Yacht Club. That club has
three handsome trophies for steam

There was just a little excitement
with all sorts of possibilities in mind

and Golden Hill street. in Bridgeport.
A bus load of prisoners consigned
' to the criminal superior court and in
;charge of Assistant Juiler William
Scoheld and Deputy Sheriff Charles bl.

the jail and turned to go into Golden
Hill street to the court house.
' Caught in Car Tracks.
_ Just as the turn was made the roar

the car tracks. There was a crash
and off came the wheel. The bus went
a short distance and then stopped. The
prisoners were thrown towards the
left side with some violence. but us-

had his face bruised a little. As they
were handcuffed in a group there was
no chance to get. away.

Jaller Scoliold ordered the men out
and they came tumbling down as fast
