parachute as the latter opened to the
wind. 1,200 feet above the ground,
John Williams, 38 years old. was
dashed to his death yesterday at Red
House Park, near Cahokia, 111.
As the acronaut prepared to make
the ascension, Williams rushed for-
ward and seized the trapeze bar. The
balloon rose, carrying both the hero.
aunt and Williams. As the parachute
commenced to 1111 In the wind and tho
rapid descent of the canvas was sud-
denly checked, Williams was jerked
loose from the bar and his body shot
downwards. .
The aeronant was uninjured. and
alighted a few yards from the scene
where Williams met his death.
