Undertake Ila Work.
NEW HAVEN. April 15.—'i‘he Pen-
«hb'dy Museum of Yale College is to re-
organise its system of exblbta of fos-
sils. so as to bring them in the prover
scientific order. This has already been
done in the case of the fishes and birds
which have been arranged according
to a chronological system included
in the plans of the museum is the res
toration of the mastodon found by
Prof. Marsh in 1875 and known for
some time so the Marsh mastodon. It
was discovered in a swamp of Orange
County. N. Y.. and was secured by
hot. Marsh after a competitive race
with other scientists in which be ob-
tained the prize by hiring a special
locomotive and being first upon the
spot.
The inastodon is in excellent preser-
vation except the hind legs. which
could not be found, although the
mat sh was carefully probed by Prof.
Marsha assistants. it is supposed
that the hind legs still rest antler a
stone road crossing near the spot
where the mastodon was found.
GOING ON THE ROAD.
Second Section of Circus Passed
Through Last Night.
The second section of the big train
of the Barnum & Bailey shows left
Bridgeport, last evening. for New
York. to prepare for the opening of
the big show in Brooklyn on April 23.
The first section of the train left the
wintlow quarters prior to the opening
hf the circus in Madison Square Gar-
den. where it is now showing.
The second train carried in draft
horses and 45 wagons. including the
meuagci‘ie and horse tents. which will
be put 11p first in Brooklyn to receive
the stock as soon as it leaves New
York. Sunday night. the third section
of the train carrying the big tent and
the residue of the show will pull out.
of the winter quarters to open the out-
doon season. which is to cover the
longest itinerary which has ever been
mapped out for the canvas city.
Tho show this year will work toward
the southwest in the fall of the year

into December before it returns to the
