The special gospel service last night

cient to accommodate the crowds and
the Sunday school room had to be used

the weather was all that could have
been desired, whereas it was one of
the most disagreeable nights of the

Drama of Life in Story and Song." and
consisted of a mustard and narrative
presentation of the story of the Prodi-

song service led by Isaac H. Meredith

Judge Alton B. Parker's first case be-
fore the Court of Appeals. decision In
which was rendered some weeks ago.
has retained befoze that court in a
motion made yesierday by John M.
Bowers, his opponent in the case. to
amend the remittiturs, practicdliy re
verse the judgment of the appeiate
division ordering a new trial. This
motion by Mr. Bowers developed the
fact that while on the surface of the
decision Judge Parker lost his case
the appeal of his client being dis-
missed. the. Judgment of the court
really was in his favor. The opinion
showing this result has not been pub-
lished until now.
The question at issue was whether
a certain déed.’ giv'eh by Mrs Eliza
beih Reich, the appellant in the case.
and "Judge Parkers client to Mrs. Al-
icia V Laban. was in effect a mori-
gage upon a farm atBi‘eutwood. Long.
l,sland or was a deed outright creat-
ing a purchase of the property. The
latter was the contention supported
by Judge Parker.
The court dismissed the appeal on
the ground that it could not review a
dispute issue of fact. But in the pre-
vailing opinion by Judge Knight. the
court settles the points of law in sc-
cordiiucp, with ,, Judge Parker's view.
and a dissenting opinion. by Judge
Martin. goes still further and holds
that the Judgment of the trial court,

should be sustained.‘
