in a measure to solve the problem of
perpetual motion. It is a pecular look-
ing machine which Mr. Partrick has
invented and the process by which
it is operated is rather mysterious,
though Mr. Partrick in showing it to
a Sentinel reported. said that it work-
ed slmply on the piecess of gravity
and the incline plane. Marbles are
conveyed by means of an endless
screw from the bottom of the machine
to the top, where they are discharged
into a wheel to a water wheel of the
over shot variety. , Mr. Partrlck has
named the machine a “Awhopetelleo
,tellagigataffle," which is the Patag-
onian word for “forever." It is piac—‘
ed on exhibition in the window oz his
shop and has area considerable
comment by its curi‘ot'is appearance.

In one of Glasgow's finely laid out
cemeteries, a rich citizen, who Was

A Scot who served an Englishman
