The question of matrimony, a roast
perplexing one at times, to every, wo-
man. admits of many solutions, and
one of the latest has been achiechd by
an American widow, possessed of 'three
charming daughters, beautiful in all
respects, but unfortunately not pos-
sessed of the finances to enhance these
numerous charms. The aforesaid
widow, with marked intrepidity. de-
cldod to do a little speculation in the
matrimonial line. and her efforts so
far have been crowned with sucu‘oss.
The widow and her daughters hied
themselves to a small Kentish town
which is noted as a health resort and
notorious for its “starvation fare"
boarding houses, Here one is com—
polled to pay exorbitant ratest for the
simpler necessities of life, and even
then must receive third-rate fare.
The widow, believing in that saw that
this easiest and quickest way to a
man'sh'eart was through his stomach,
set to work,.leased one of the swellest
houses in that vicinity and wheedled
the landlord into letting .her keep
boarders. His consent obtained, she
engaged a French chef, hung out her
sign and awaited results. Before many
days she had out her S. R. 0. sign. and
urine end of two weeks' time, had to
call in police aid 'to keep oft mould-be
lodgers!
Her fame has spread across tyro con-
tinents her financial status has taken
a decided upward climb, and the great-
est victory .of all, one daughter is al-
ready disposed of, and it is only a
question of time before number two
and three will follow. So much for
American ingenuity and pluck.
