sumed control oi‘ the cotton market at-
icr noon today. Liverpool had shown
adecilniiig tendency in response to
tho 1an break here yesterday and the
weather was good but shorts were thor-
oughly unsettled and fearful 61 further
manipulation, and when the bulls star-t
ed buying realizing on the advance and
some wire houses with Southern con-
ncclon wcrmactive sellers but toward
the. end of the first hour it was report-

New Orleans had gone to the wall hea~
vy short in October, December and
January. and these positions shot up
about ten points further in a very few
minutes. October, which had opened
13 points over the close yesterday, ad-
vanced from 1037 to 10.52 in three
sales. while December and January
showed net gains of 31 at 35 points.
The hulls took profits actively on this
bulge audcliecked the advance. with
the market later rery nervous

stocks averaged slightly above yestera

stock rose to 29%, and its advance
stimulated a considerable inquiry for
other southern and southwestern prop—
crtics. Among the specialties, Brook-
lyn Transit. Metropolitan Street Rail-
way and Pacific Mail were freely
