with the low notes of an ebbing tide—~—
voices which have never been sub-
dued by a sorrowful experience, else
there could not have been that light-
ness of laughter, that gushful out~
burst which only knows the sentimen-
tal side of life.

gather up the ever troublesome skirts
before bonding the knee for resting.

at my feet. elbowing its way along
towards the scene of attractions
where bothers were delightfully dip-
ping themselves in the pleasureable

During the month of June new cor-
porations were organised in this State
to the number of 5, with an aggregate
capital stock of 84, 213, 000 as compared

capital organised in the same month of

Night.
NEW BRITAIN. July 5,—ln this city
the police statio‘n Sunday night Was
filled to the doors. and in some cases
two men were occupying the same cell,
The police have been active all day
arresting men on the charge of dis-
charging flrearms within the city lim-
its. and as a result 25 were taken in
up to midnight. A number of these
celebrators were foreigners, who were
evidently ignorant of the statutes and
ordinances relating to the firing of re
yolvers, etc. and many of them were
unable to secure bail. It was the
noislest Fourth of July eve that this
city has experienced in many years.
Mrs. Joungst who was shot by a
stray bullet. is recovering. Louis Quin-
to, who was arrested for firing the bui-

Electrical Vehicle Equipment Com-
pany’s Factory in Brooklyn DestrOyed.
NEW YORK, July 5 —-—A loss of near-
ly $400. 000 resulted today from a fire
which completely destroyed the Eleo-
tricai Vehicle Equipment Company‘s
factory in Brooklyn. The building cov-
ered nearly two acres and was owned
by the Edison Company, which leased
it to the vehicle Epuipment Company.
