Three Men Forced Their Way into His
Room It’HOtel.
CHICAGO, June 25.——After his work
as a delegate to the Republican Nation»
al Convention was concluded. Gover-
nor James H. Peabody, of Colorado.
was threatened by three men who forc-
ed their way into his room at the Au-
ditorium Annex. ,
According to a statement made by
the governor, the men invaded his
room when he was alone. The spokes-
man of the party claimed to be the
publisher of a labor union paper In
Chicago.
He informed the governor that he
had been delegated by the Board of
the Building Trades Council of Chica-
go to present to him a copy of a set of
resolutions denouncing his action in
deporting union men from the State of
Colorado.
The resolutions‘stated that the char-
ter 0! their local organization would
be draped in mourning so long as Gov-
ernor Peabody remained in the city.
The governor replied to the men, justi-
fying his course in strong terms, and
they then left his room.
Governor Peabory paid no further
attention to the matter and did not
mention it until some time afterward.
