He has built some of the. best small
boats In the harbor. and has made a
reputation for his craft second to none
in these waters for speed. graceful
lilies, senwortlliness and beauty.
There was a very pleasant episode.
which took place. recently when a well-
known Sunday school teacher took one
of. his scholars to New York, which
great city he had never seen before;
as a reward for his thoroughness and
attentiveness to his Bible studies. The
youth was taken first to the top of a
twenty story building, from which a
fine View could be had of the two great
East River bridges, and looking down
the people and vehicles seemed like ll
lot of little midgets. while the mill
and rush was like an auction day in
"Vanity Fair." Tlley next visited Con.
lral Park. going through the museum,
taking a peep at the swans on the lake,
and they carefully scrutinized all the
wild animals, scarcely any of which
the boy had ever seen. He was also
taken to the wax works and given It
splendid time generally. without how
big to spend a penny. The little chnp‘s
milld was full of It when he went to
bed, and Ill the middle DI the night he
rose bolt upright in bed. and swing-
ing his bony backward and forward, he
said "Oh. mamma, youmllght to have
seen that donkey." He had reference
to a miniature donkey which had a
string of bells around his neck and
automatically worked his head up and
down. The boy is only twelve years of
age, bllt he will never forget that day.
and one of the best things about. It
was that he promised his mother that
when he grew up to be a rich man. he
would reward the teacher, who had
been so good to him when a boy.
