QUINCY, Mass, May 23.—-The Fore
River Ship anti Engine Company at
whose works a strike occurred five
weeks ago today have informed a. num-
ber of machinists who remained at
work that. their services were no long
er required. The men were told that
there was no employmena for them and
from this statement the strikers
judge that work is still hampered by
the strike. it Is said that the gov.
ernment may devise means of hurrying
operations on the battleships Rhode
island. New Jersey and Vermont.
which are being built by this company,
should work be greatly delayed.
BODY IN NEW LONDON HARBOR.
NEW LONDON, May 23.~——The body
of a man found floating In the harbor
here at 5 o'clock this morning, was
identified by letters in the pockets as
being that of B. .l. Secor, a barber, of
Bridgeport. He came here to work
