Springfield and Hartford
The new bridge "Will take the place
of the old single track structure, and
will be a steel truss running on spans,
and dorrblotracliad§ The new structure
will acconnnod he heaviest engines
and trains which modern times de
mand. The old bridge has been remiss;
in this respect. As the new bridge will
he completed within the present year,
it will not be so Iery long before heav-
ter trains and a shade better running
time will he noticed on the. Hartford
division The new structure will per»
mit oi! the. passage of much hear tor and
conseduently more powerful motors.

greater train loads handled.
The award for the steel work of the
new bridge has not yet hen made. Its
method of construction ‘wiil be of in- .
terest. The present abutments are to
be widened for the additional track. .

transferred to the new track. and the
