NEW HAVEN, April ib.—Siow prog-
ross was made today in the trial in
the Superior Court of George W. Carey,
the disbarrod Stratford attorney who
is charm-d with forgery and penjury in
cunllct‘lioll' with his handling of the eli-
tate of the late John W. Ford. of Mil-
ford. Mrs. Elizabeth C. Wheeler, sis-
ter of the i‘ty-ipondenl's wife. and one
of the pvrsons whose name is alleged
to have been forced. was again on the
witness stand this morning. She ap-
peared weaker even than at yester-
day's session and frequently required
the services of her nurse. who sat be-
side her. This fact and the main
arguments between attorneys on var-
ious questions prolonged the trial. The

Mrs. Whecicr was cross-examined by

whose questions scanned to indicate
that he desired i. show that the wit-
ness' memory was faulty. She said
that it was in April. 1900 that. she saw

impression that Carey might try to
forge her name and that he intended
