Cold Weather has Prevented Digging
In Northern lads.
One effect of the long continued cold
weather is a great scarcity of clams in
Danbury. It is so hard to get the bi-
valves that few are to be found In thc
markets. In the reataurantl.- where
clams are always on the bill of fare at
this time of year. they are most of the
time consplcious by their absence.
The reason for this Is that the water
over the northern clam beds is frozen
and It is in most cases Impossible to
