Another serious coasting accident
occurred last night, about 7:30 o'clock.
on the Quintard avenue bill. when Miss
Edna Kendrick, ot' Ely avenue, sua-
tainod a bro..en leg. and will be 0011-
fined to her home for several weeks.
Misti Kendrick was oneof a party of
young people who were enjoying the
fine coasting on the hill. on the Reed
& Housman double ripper. This is
tWenty feet in length, nfiti is owned

borhood. At the time the accident oc.
curred there were seVenteen yoting
people going down th'c hill on the rip.
Stanley Mayliew. of South Main street.
was acting in the capacity of steers—
muti. The steering is done by means
of a rope, anti this was spread along
the rip. and when the masters were
seated on it, Mr. Mayhew was unable
to get hold of the rope properly to
guide the heavy vehicle.
Near the foot of the hill the rip
struck a large stone at one side of the
road. The force of the contact drove
the front sled for a considerable dis-
tance under the plank. anti Miss Ken-
drick had her right leg piniouetl be-
tween the sled and plank. Her cries
brought immediate attention, and she
was cared for by her companions.

The commissioners have decided ad-
versely in regard to the reissue of a
license to Daniel Hamilton in New
Canaan. liamilton was granted a
license last year on one of the main
roads in the town. leading to Ridge-
fleld. He promised to run a decent
place anti obey the law. But he did
itoi keep his word and this year when
he asked for a renewal there was a
strong rcmonstrance against him.
The commissioners, followed their
usual ctistom anti refused the. license
when it was apparent that the majorl-
ty of the property owners in the sect—
ion of the town where Hamilton's place

remoustrance to be heard in Danbury.
