the banking and currency committee
of the house and made a strong argu-_
ment in favor of the bill introduced
by himself to improve currency c-ou
ditlons. Mr. Hill introduced this bill
when he was a member of the commit-
tee and it Is understood it has the ap
proval of the chairman of the commit
tee If there Is any currency legisls
t'on IlIls session at all. this will prob
ably be the only bill that will be re
ported by the committee and passed
the house.
Mr Hill stated that from his own
. experience and after many confcrenccs
with banking officials throughout the
country he introduced the bill. believ-
Ing that the luminous interests and
banking institutions demanded the
changes proposed by the bill. llc cx-
plulncd at length that this was an
administrative bill. and provides for
a number of public depositories under
the direction of the secretary of the
treasury. If also repcsls the present
law which forbids the deposit of more
than 43.000.000 during any month for
the purpose of withdrawing circulat-
ing notes. This would, in Mr. Hill‘s
opinion. make circulation much more
plastic and bc of vast importance to
trade.

Peter Kelly for the murder of his wife
by sirychnine poisoning was continued
in the criminal superior court yester-
day beforc Judge George W. Wheeler
and a jury. A sensational feature of‘
