THREE OF CHIKOOT'S CREW LOST

Marion Cbilkoot. which sailed from
San Francisco, September 10 for Hon-
oiulu with a cargo of oil, has arrived
here. after a lcmpestuous voyage in
which three of her crew were last.
she encountered a fierce gale immedi-
ately after leaving San Francisco. and
threc of her sailors were washed over-
board and drowned. The male and
two other sailors saved their lives by
holding on to the braces. The vessel
was driven south as far as San Diego
before she was able to make course for
this port. Oil was used successfully In
chiming the sea. Willi the exception
of the loss of some still the vesel was
uninjured.

ten years' imprisonment in the Unit-
ed Slams district court at New Haven.
Tuesday morning, we? brought to the
Connecticut state prison at Wethers-
field In the afternoon. He has been
assigned to work in the shirt shop.

local Curpcniers' Union, was put on
trial in the City Court ycslcrday on
the charge of intimidating lcorgc E.
lludley. n non-union carpenter, and Ed—
ward L. lllnc, a master carpenter on
August 13. it is alleged that McKc-r-
was made thrcais because of Dudley's
refusal to join the union and because
liine would not discharge Dudley.

Barbour, a prominet citizen. attempted
suicide yesterday by shooting himself
in the head. The bullet of 32 calibre
entered his right temple and came out
on the left side of his head. His con~
dition Is very critical. but he is thought
to have a chance of recovery. Ifr.
Barbour keeps a livery stable and owns
a fine business block on Main street-
it is believed that he was sufferint
from temporary insanity due to long
sickness. He is seventy years old.
