Placing Prussian National Gallery In
Hands of Minister of Public In-
struetion.
BERLIN, September lz—The Prus-
sian cabinet order of Wednesday. tak-
ing the national gallery from the con-
trol of the Berlin Municipality and
placing it under the ministry of Pub-
lic instruction, is badly received by
artists and by the city authorities. The
order is ascribed to the Initiative of
Emperor William. whose opinion as to
what is right to go into the gallery has
several times diverged from that of the
Municipal Art Commission and Herr
Von 'l'scbudi. director of the gallery.
For instance the commission recently
bought. "Kampi's “Two Sisters" of this
season's academy. What the Emperor

Board of Education Requests the Atten-
tion of the Parents.
It is 1116 .desire of the Board of
Educatoin of Ridgctleld that parents
and others interested In the welfare
of‘ the schools should be conversant
with the rules and regulations gov-
erning the schools, and in so far as
these rules pertain to themselves make
every reasoable effort to comply with
them. It is furthermore desired that
any flagrant violation of those rules by
teachers or pupils should be reported
immediately to the board. Attention
is particularly called to Rules 7. 8 and
9. which are as follows:
Bee. 7. The lines established by for-
mer districts shall be maintained. and
no scholar shall be permitted to attend
any school except the highest room In
Center school, outside of the district
In which he or she lives. without per-
mission from the school board.
Sec. 8.—Candidsles for admission to
the highest room in Center school from
other districts shall be required to pass
an examination the first week of the
fall session. This examination shall be
subject to the inspection and approval
of the acting school visitor and shall
be given by the principal of the Center
school.
Sec. 0. If at any time later than the
first week of the fail term pupils from
other districts desire to enlcr the high-
est roomin the Center school, they
shall first apply to the school board for
permission. and if this be granted, they
shall then be required to pass the ex-
amination. A general average of 75
per cent. shall be required in these ex-
aminations.
