Two fiat cars loaded with gravel and
drawn by a steam engine got away
from a construction crew on the Bus-
ton and Worcester street railway in
Shrewsbury this morning. and crash-
ed Inio two cars used for overhead con-
struction work. John Charles. of No.
32 Congress street Salem, conductor
of the gravel train. was thrown from
one of the cars. and his arm so badly
torn that it was amputated at the City
Hospital here .

Brooklyn Man Had a Gunshot Wound
in Abdomen.
NEW YORK. Aug. 17.—Atabrla
Romanelli was discovered early today
In a dying condition in a vacant lot
in Brooklyn, with a pistol shot wound
in the abdomen and died before the
arrival of an ambulance surgeon. Be-
fore he died. however. he told the po-
lice that he had been shot by Frank
Ferro, who made his escape. Romaneli
and Ferro were In lovewith the same
woman, and after frequent quarrels
had agreed to fight. It Is alleged that
when Ferror reached the lot where
the duel was to have been fought, he
found his antagonist and the latter's
two brothers. Dominica and Antonio
Romaneili and all three attacked Fer-
ro. who finding that he was likely to
meet his death. fired the fatal shot
and ran away.

On the arrival of the party they will be
taken on a trip along the shore in a
launch and afterwards given dinner at
the Suburban Club.- The party will
take an evening train to New York to

the identity of the man and woman
found dead In the Adams House here
last- night. The cause of death is
gas by accident, the circumstances
pointing to a failure of one of the per—
sons to fully turn off the gas cook.
The man was Steve Kumba of New
Britain. and the woman probably
Sophie Dlaisa. of New London. This
latter identification is not certain but
Coroner Mix is communicating with
the. New London ofiieera to have them
look up her relatives.
