'It is a common sight to see a woman
on the street woarliig shoes with boots
from two to four inches high, and the
wearers themselves are coming to real-

The Evening Sentinel was printed an
interview with a local chiropodlst.m’
which brought to light facts concerning
the results of the style on South Nor—
walk feet.
Following is an interview with a
chiropodiat of national reputation. who
has been called upon to treat cases of
great deformities arising from contin-
ued use of high heels:
"The case of Mrs. William Hunter.
of Chicago," he said, “who, It. is report-
ed, may have to have her foot amps
tated because of a malformation re
suiting from the wearing of high-heel-
ed shoos, does not impress me as be

know nothing about her case.
"The wave of enthusiasm which has
taken hold of women lately in regard to
extremely high heels has reaped l‘IIr

the instep to support the foot.
“People who stand on their test a
great deal are the ones who generally
softer from ‘tlat tnot.’ But in the last
month i have had several bud cases
from' women of wealth who have in-
.iured their feet by constant wearing

"Out of all the women who went
liigbIheeled shoes there is only about 5
per cent. who can do so without injury
to their feet and to then health. These
women come under the same lawa, for
instance as those who can eat iertaiu
kinds of food without being attested.
