boys were riding around below the

join in the ride. When all had been
scaled. the skiff was headed for the
dam and when within a short distance
from‘ the structure the suction from
the. “Bear trap" drew the boat, in spite
of the boys‘ frantic efforts. under the
water flowing over the Jam. The accl~
dent was witnessed by hundreds of
people and rescuers were quickly at.

drowned. Two girls were rescued in
an unconscious condition. but were

state, which Is required by law to be
made on the last business day in June
and the figures show an Increase in
deposits during the year of more than
8.600.000; and while the premium ac
count shows a decrease of more than
81,000.000 owing to the present ulirlnii-
age in the market value of securities,
the total resources of the banks have
risen during the year from $70,725,954
to ”3,563.2”. an increase of 82.837.-
256. and an average of $473.65 to every
(leposltor. The total surplus is about
$l0.000.000 above the sums due to the
depositors. The present fluctuations
in the stock market have littleor no
effect upon New Hampshire savings
banks as the class of securities sub-
ject to these fluctuations are mostly
outside of legal investments for our
savings banks. Every bank is found to
be In a sound financial condition.
