market reflected increased firmness all
around at today's opening, with ad-
vances on a number of leading issues.
The standard shares led the move-
ment, New York Central being again
a feature. The. list sold off fraction-
ally soon after the opening. but recov-
ered almost immediately and gains
greater than those of the opening were
recorded. Yesterday’s pressure upon
Atchison and Southern Pacific was not
renewed. though Atchlson kept pace
with other stocks in the same group.
London's two failures were without
influence here. in fact, London's at-
titu’de toward this market was general-
ly regarded as very indulgent. There
was some buying for European ac-
count. though the selling for these in-
terests in the first hour was quite
large. No sales of Evansville and
Torre Haute. which changed control
rather suddenly yesterday, were re-
ported untll the end of the first hour.
