BOUGHT CARBOLIC ACID.
But Norwalk Young Man Claims he
Was Not Going to Use it.
This morning a boy entered Mr.
Weed' s store and presented a note to
one of the clerks, William Henry. The
mismve asked for some carbolic acid
for “Win Sanford," for cleaning pur-
poses. Mr, Henry scented nothing out
of the way and did up the preparation
for the lad and thought nothing more
about the transaction until about half
an hour later, when Sanford’a mother
came in and told about taking the bot-
tle away from her son and emptying
the contents into the brook and not to
sell him any more of it. George
W. Hardwlcke, the head prescription
clerk, asked her if she had been to the
other drug stores about Norwalk and
warned them not to sell her son acid
and she replied that she had but in re-
sponse to the question as to whether
she had warned the South Norwaik
drug stores, she said she had not.
A moment later Mrs. Sanford saw
her son on a trolley car bound for
South, Norwalk and imparted the in-
formation to Mr. Hardwicke- The lat-
ter immediately set to work .to warn
the South Norwaik drug stores of the
case. it was~not thought that the young
man would be successful in procuring
the poison from any store in town.

NORWICH, July 20.——-On the charge
of causing the death of Paul Malaskl.
8. Pole. by striking him on the head
with a blunt instrument on July 1, Wil-
liam Kilrow. aged forty-one years, was
today held for the September term of
the Superior Court. in default of
bonds of 53.000 he went to jail. Malaskl
died July 11 from his injury.
