don two years ago. Thacher, in a
quarrel with Gordon at Foxport, shot
him and then sat on the body. Winches-

rest him. hacker escaped at. the time
but was later arrested and lodged In
tall at Flemingsburx. lie was given
two trials and finally got a life sen-
tence.
Gordon was a good citizen and an

ed Thacker appealed to the court of ap-
peals and was waiting for another trial,
Thacher had some money and was able
to command the support of some influ-
ential‘micn and it was feared that he
might escape punishment altogether.
