ploy of the Union Metallic Cartridge
Company. was lnstdntly killed by an
explosion while at work this iorcnoon.
The cause of the explosion has not
been determined. but 'It is supposed
that somefif the iulmlnate became
dry; iniwbi‘ch condition it cannot be
handled. as thejsllghtest agitation or
concussion will cause it to explode.
Muller was worklna in an embanked
mixing house alone. The roof was
blown oi! the house. and Its fragments
fell back on his body, crushing it bad-
ly. Muller was‘htty-two years old. and
had a family. He had worked for the
company several years, and w thor-
oughly experienced in handl us the
compound.
The olilcials oi the company are In-
vestigating the accident. but It is hard-
iy probable that anything definite can
be ascertained. as everything In the
house was shattered.
