the case of William H Gallivan. charg. 2
ed with the murder of Jeremiah Sham-
wny. was resumed In the Superior
Court before Judge Roraback yester-
dav. The first witness called by
State‘ S Attorney Lucas was Walter
Burlingamc. keeper of a general store.
He said that after being informed that
some men were assaulting Shumway he
went to the Shumway house. carrying
a revochr. For some time. the wit-
. ness said. he had feared that tramps
would murder Shnmway. for it was
generally believed that he kept a large
