day says: The scheme which has
been contemplated for some time for
connecting the Michigan Central and
the Lake shore railroads at Grand Rap-
ids. Mlch.. is to be carried out. The
Michigan Central practically has se-
cured the whole right of way necessary
for the connection. The. connecting
line will be three and anesthlrd miles
long and will enable the Lake Shore
to run its trains into the union depot.

day. Mrs. Kate Burns of North Main
street but her dress ignited by the
flames. Before assistance arrived her
clothing was nearly burned from her
