Fire in Hawleyviile Caused by a Loco-
Motive do Mr.
HAWLEYVILLE, May 1.-i-A two-
story frame but factory. owned by
S. A.,Blacltman. and unoccupied, was
destroyed by fire at ten o'clock this
morning. The Hawieyyille Creamery
and other neighboring buildings
caught fire. but were .‘saved by the
work of the villagers and crews of
freight trains on the Highland Divis.

and water was carried from a nearby
river in buckets. The fire started
from a locomotive spark. The loss is
estimated at 81,500.

Extensive preparations have been
madeforthc May Day dance, which
will be given this evening under the
auspices of Uncas Haymakers and Un-
case Tribe. Red Men in their hall in
Washington street. The festivities
will commence at. 8:80 with the clab
orate grand march. which was re out
ed at the annual mask b‘ail, t s. cm-
mittee. appearing in the regular in-
dlan costume. A variety of dances are
upon the program.including the gor-
geous May pole‘ dance. The hall has
been elaborately decorated and every-
thing has been done ‘to assure a
pleasant evening to those who will at-
tend. Thc admission will be 25¢ a per-
son. The committee reserves the right
to reject objectionable parties. This
will be the last social event that will
be given by this popular organization
this season. and the members have
spared nothing to make this event a
memorable one. All should attend.
