A number. of unfavorable reports
were sent in by the judiciary commit-
tcc. The lilll increasing the salary of
the. prosecuting attorney of New Mjl-
ford. was rejected. The bill that cor-

was rejected. The bill providing that
county commissioners should be elect-
ed by the people was rejected, on mo-
tion of Mr. Banks, after a brief argu-
ment.
Mr. Woodrun' spoke against the bill.
He said he stood for the principle that
county commissioners and judges of
the minor courts ought to be elected
by the people. He said that these elec-
tions by the general assembly were
fruitful of petty politics and disagree-
able Incidents

was the place where the people of the

bathing benches within which house-
bouts may be anchored. The penalty
for violation of the slate is $50,

Thames Towhoat Company kept men
all winter when business was dull and
the president feels bitter to think that
the strikers should take advantage of
