WASHINGTON. Feb. 24.———Thc Dem-
ocratic senatorial caucus has rejected
the two state propositions for the ad-
mission of new‘atates supbmitted by
the Republicans. The matter of fur"
thor negotiations was left with the
Democratic members of the commit-
tec on post-offices which has charge of
the appropriation bill with the stale-
hood rider.
The object is to ascertain whether
there is a maturity of the Senate will-
lnr: to vote the rider upon the hill.
Unless there is an assurance of such
cons the Democrats will not vote for
