BOSTON, Feb. 14—Alisrge nll‘T“)""
of the subscribers of the. New England
Publishing Company's magazine. which
it is claimed promised premiums to
them. including a couch. a dinner set
or other household articles. have been
besieglng the offices of the company
during the past few days, demanding
that the agreement be fulfilled. The
United States postal officials and the
local police declare that the business
is a swindle, bill. as the mails were not
used by the concern to obtain money
by false pretenses, no action has been

taken.

Agents had been sellt through New
England, asking for subscriptions to
the magazine at ten cents a number
with the inducement of a substantial
premium, after ninety~slx numbers had
been taken.

it is said that 12,000 persons in New
England subscribed to the magazine
and hundreds have come here with
their ninety-six premium tickets to get
a couch, a dinner set or a parlor lamp
Very few have succeeded in obtaining
the premiums and the offices have been
thronged by an indignant crowd
