examiner of the isolated little town of
Monroe. Dorman who was about 20
years of age was found by the medical
examiner dead on the floor of the
kitchen of the little house where he
lived with his father and two broth-
era. The gather who was lying in
bed suffering from an injury to his
face told the medical examiner that
theyoungtm‘an was killed during a
quarrel with a stranger over a ‘woman.
The two brothers of the dead man are
said to have been absent from home
when the tragedy occurred. One of
them summoned the medical examin'
or to the scene.
The story of the affair as Coroner
Doten received it was rather fragmen-
tary. Dr. Wales says one of the Dor-
man brothers came to his home last
evening. and summoned him to the?
Dorman house about a mile outside of I
Monroe Getter. When Dr. Wales went 1
there he found the dead youth's bodyf
lying on the kitchen floor with a bul- i
let wound in the breast. The father
who was in bed had apparently been
in a scuffle. 'l‘heie was a tumor on his
face. fronrwhich blood was flowing. in-

bedroom when a man unknown to him. ,
entered the house. and began quarrel- 1
ing with his son about a woman. The

committee on naval-affairs today re-
sumed investigation of the charges of
Representative Lessler that he was
approached with an offer of money for
his vote.

employment at present. He was cm-
pioyed by the Republican committee
during the campaign of 1902 and at-
tended to the distribution of literatuie.
He was also a deputy in the ethos of
Superintendent of Elections McCul-

whom he had known since 1894. He
had been in politics for twelve years.
"I stood ready to serve Mr. L‘essler in
any way i could." he said. when asked

this week. the election and subsequent
reception and address of United States
Senator Orvii e H. Platt made thr

been an unprecedented delay thus MI
in getting new measures introduced
hardly «more than fifty bills liavlny
thus far been presented. As the final
date for new business, February 6
is a week earlier than usual. this se’s-
sion. the result will necessarily be d
tremendous rush‘of new business this
coming week and the next Week in or
dcr to expedite matters the next two
weeks may be filled to their limit with
sessions and committee hearings will
be probably started. The most import
ant measures from the public stand»
point introduced this «week were the
two propositions that came out of the
constitutional convention in the best
condition both measures anauged and
introduced b.\ Representative Chat
field. of New Haven. One of them is
the old plan for a sliding scalehof rep
resentation starting with one represen

ber of legislators in the lower house
than the governor'n proposition. and
like it. will change with each United
States census. The other plan starts
with one representativefor each town
and adds to that one from each of the
senatorial districts hereafter‘to be de

senatorial district man. while at the
