The barge “Arthur Jackson," with
about four hundred tons of hard coal, IV
of th egg, stove and nut variety. has
arrived and is discharging her cnr‘go at
John H. Ferris' dock. The barge
“Dexheimer” has been loaded and is
expected here in a few days with an—
other load of hard coal. A placard
has been placed in Mr. Ferris’ office
reading “All orders subject to a delay
of forty-eight hours in delivery."

the house of representatives In Hart-

vice of the Unitarian Church in Der-
by, Sunday, upon ,the subject: “The

GARMENT WORKERS AGREEMENT
CHICAGO, December (ill—After two
weeks discussion the local union of
the United Garment Workers of Ameri-
ca and the Wholesale Tailors Associa-
tion reached an agreement last night
and signed a contract which went in-
to effect at once and continues until
March 1. 1904. By the terms of the
contract the union gets full recogni-
tion; forty, eight hoprs will constitute
a weeks wor : and-the minimum pay
by the week is to be $20 for suit cut-
ters. $18 for trousers cutters. and 814
for cost trimmers. The workmen are
given six holidays a year with full
NV. and under no circumstances shall
any one be compelled to work on labor
day. Time and a half is allowed for
overtime and double time for Sunday
and holidays. The contract provides
further for immediate arbitration of
all disputes. .
