of a chairman and the names of James
L. Hoyt and Attorndey Leo Davis we":
put forth. MI. Davis declined the
honor in favor of Mr. Hoyt. and the
latter was then unanimously chosen.

trict. read the call of the meeting.
which in substance was to the effect
that the meeting was called "to take
such action as the meeting may deem

Mr. Walsh stated that to inng the
‘matter before the meeting he would
propose the following resolution:
“That we do hereby enlarge and ex.
tend the purposes for which this fire
district was organized by adding to
said purposes the lighting of the
streets of the district."
in explanation Attorney Walsh stat-
ed that as he understood it the light-
ing of the streets included one of the
purposes which the organization of the
fire district might mean and though
it was not stated plainly so the char-
tcr provides that the distilct may add
to its purposes the lighting of the
streets lie ihought it proper to pass
some such resolution, as the district
would then be in ‘a position to obtain
estimates, etc. to secure the lighting
of the streets as cheaply as possible.
At present. it had no authority what-
ever to do so. He did not. know
whether or not the people at present
wanted lights. but he was positive that
they must come some time 'in the fu-
ture.
