The petition against. McClellan,
which Was presented to the School Vis-
itora last night. lind been circulated
in dustriously since, Monday and an
opportunity had been given to almost
everybody in ltowayton to sign the pa
per. Miss Erwin's friends say that
very few dcclincd.
Miss Erwin rcccntlv received a let-
ter that her attorney deems of the his
most importance in its bcarings upon
the case. The letter was written in
ink and mailed at Station C. in New
York city. It was isigucd “ii. Clark."
and [bore was no address attached. In
the letter wore these. significant
phrases: "There is a great. sum of
money already raised to defeat your
efforts “at vindication. No effort will
be soared to bring this about. and
whatever happens you will lose. your
case."
Miss Erwin believes this lctter was
written in Rowayton by one of her on-
cmics and taken to Ncw York for
mailing. The letter has been turned
over to the postal authorities. Miss
Erwin is still unable to get the letters
she is accused of writing for forward-
ing to Washington. They are in the.
possession of Principal McClellan's ai-
torncv.
