Marconi this morning is awaiting a
cable from London. announcing the re
sult of the negotiations between his
agents and the Anglo-American Com
pany. The inventor fears the latter
will insist that he cannot engage in
commercial business here until after
the expiration of their monopoly. Mar-
coni is not prepared to agree to such
a condition, believing he can perfect
means for signalling between Corn
wall and Nova Scoiht within a few
months. He has now practically no
aided to visit Nova Beetle on Sunday
but this does not necessarily mean
that he will abandon Newfoundland ii
the Anglo-American company proves
reasonable.
Superintendent Macksy. manager of
the Anglo American Company in this
colony. denies that he protested to
Governor Boyle yesterday against the
latter visiting the Marconi station. Mr.
Mscksy admits calling upon the gov
ernor but says the call was in regard
to audiber aspect a purely social one
of Marconi‘s affairs and that nothing
in the nature of a protest transpired.

anxiety here. The supposed victims
are Annie Foley, Margaret Foley and
Michael Whaien. all of whom boarded
at the Fahey house. where the original
case edveloped. The health ofilcer said
today that he has little doubt but that
these are genuine small pox cases. They
have been quarantined. and the health
olilcer will immediately have a pest
house erected, in preparation for oth-
er possible cases. Since the discovery
of the original case the two young wo-
men who are. now thought to have the
disease huVe been boarding at a house
on .aple street. having left the Fahey
house. by permission of the health an-
thoriiies. As they have been employ-
ed in a factory. considerable alarm is
felt by other employees of the factory.
