A race was witnessed here between
the Colonial Express and the Buy
State express. two of the fastest trains
that travel over the Consolidated sys»
tent. The Colonial loaves New Haven
at 1:05 p. m.. and makes a stop at
Bridgeport. being due. here at about 2
o'clock, The Bay State loaves New
Huron at 1:30 and is due here at about
2:15. it makes no stops between New
Haven and New York.
The Colonial was running behing its
schedule and both trains chimed the
Stamford block about the some time.
the Colonial on track No. 1 and the
Bay State on track No. 3. It was a race
to son who would get the signal for
the Riverside drawbrldgc about six
miles away. The trains sued through
Stamford at about sixty miles an hour
When Bellsck‘s out was reached the
Colonial fell behind. The Bay State
got the right of way and had crossed
the druwbridgc before the Colonial had
