Connecticut representatives. with
the exception of Mr. Sperry. fared Well
in the lottery of seats for the session.
The drawing of the seats is always one
or the most interesting features of the
opening dayrlu the House. It takes
place alter the organisation oi the
House, the selection of a speaker and
the swearing in of the members. The
entire membership is banished from
the iloorand gathered in a mass back
of the railing, shutting oil~the floor
from the rear of thehall. A blindfolded
page draws number from a box and the
congressman are. allowed to choose
seats as their names are called. ‘
0f the Connecticut men ~Representa-
tives Hill and Henry were the for-
tunate ones“ and wars among the very
first to havezthe privilege of choosing
seats. Mr. Hill's was the ilfth name
to be drawn from the box and Mr.
Henrya the eight so they had nearly
all of the 200 cents on the republican
side to choose from. Mr. Hill chose his
old seat in the front and well in the
middle of the republican side and Mr.
Henry took a seat on the center aisle
just back of the seat he occupied last
session. Mr. Kinsey did not have the
privilege or choosing until interim the
drawing. but secured a desk near his
old place-11 seats mmandiug a good
view of the whole... as. Here he was
