Galveston is hard hit with the oil
craze. Oil companies are springing up
like mushrooms and are doing a rush-
ing business selling sharos. which are
bcinc purchosod by people in all walks
of life. Each shureholdcr sees mil-
lions in his investment. Alrcady there
are Rockorfoilcra izalorc in prospect.
Galveston capitalists contpmplate
tho construction of a pipe lino from tho
lloauinont oil floids to Bolivar Point.
The distance is seventy-two miles.
The construction of such a line would
make Galveston not onlv an oil mar-
ket but an oil exporting place of no
moan magnitude. The company has
not yet been organized. but President
Range. of the Galveston Cotton Ex.
change. said that the details were he
lug rapidly worked out and a company
ho. thought. would be organized in a
few days to carry the project into
practical affect.
Unqucstionably the discovery of oil
in such enormous quantities in south
east Tcxas is going to prove an aid in
the recuperation of Galveston. says a
dospatch. Everywhere through this
count country real estate values are
rapidly increasing since these oil dis
coveriea were made which immedlte»

ly worthless. The discovery has in-
fused new life into the people—Mu this
respect it has been beneficial. but
when. where and how. the present
speculative citizen in oil shares will
