Charles Byxbee was chopping wood
at his home in East Cliii street. this
morning. about 8 o’clock. when the axe
slipped. and srtuck his left thumb, go-
ing through the bone. and almost sev-
erin the end of the finger. The bone
was adly smashed and splintered. Mr.

the thumb attended by Dr. Tracey. He
