pending amendment to the constitu-
tion enlarging and equalizing represen-
tation in the state Senate. was entirely
inadequate as a remedy for existing in-
equalities ot representation in the
House. is has been assumed in various
newspapers that he has taken ground
against changing the present condition
of the Senate.

Hartford Courant reporter. who asked
about this. The governorsaijd that it
was altogether an error to think that
be favored leaving the Senate as it is.
He said that he believed the senatorial
districts should be of equal population
and that there was no need (or Consult
lug county lines in laying them out.
nor even town lines. it further sub-
division is necessary. The one thing
to be considered was to have each son
ator represent the same number of
constituents as each other senator.
