unbecoming an officer: Spiro is a ser-
ond-huud furniture dealer. with a store
on Main street. Ho'-nllegcs that. Mm:-
duy night. a customer came into the
store and wanted to buy a table. He
looked at several and. finding one that
he liked. left a deposit of fifty cents.
while. he Went out to make some fur-
ther purchases. He returned in a
short time and told :SDiro that he had
found a table he liked better in an-
other store, He wanted his half dol-
lar buck. Spiro would not refund the
money. and the man sought out Officer
Ward. Spiro and the purchaser
wrangled for some time and finally.
Spiro claims. Ward told him that he
would kick his stomach on" unless he
gave back the money. Spiro became
wildly excited at this. and after nt-
tempting to have Officer Ward “roast-
ad" in the newspapers, made charges

The Long Island deer shooting sea-
son will commenco today. and four
