HARTFORD. Conn“ September 8——-Mrs. Patrick J. Darcy shot
herseif in the right temple at an eariy hour, this morning. Death is
believed to have been instantaneous. Her body was found at the
edge of the bed. when her husband awoke at 6 o‘clock this morning.
The revoiver which was the means of Airs. Barry‘s death, lay on the
Spread between her hands. The husband immedieteiy notified his
wife's mother. who slept in the next apartment. and oniy twelve .
feet distant from the body. There is a doorway. but no door be-
tween the tum apartments. the opening being screened by a portiere.

Media! Examiner Fuller, Assistant Medical Examiner Knight,
and Ofieer Gavin viewed the body. Mrs. Famham, the dead wo»
man’s marker. and the husband. stated that they heard no sound
during the night. They said that within two weeks she had taken
misint- with suicidal intent.

The character of the wound shows that the nmzzie was heid
within an inch or two of the temple. and Dr. Fuller thinks that the
[amnion of the revolver muffled the sound. The physicians and the
mother believe that the death was by suicide. '

Mrs. Darcy 'was forty~one years old. and the daughter of the
late Captain John M. Furnham. Her husband is inspector on the
city board of health.

SH ELTON. Conn. September S—The body of Edward Melior
was found floating in the canal here. yesterday. Whether death was
the result of accident or suicide is not positively known. Mellor
had been on a spree. and \Vednesday toie! a friend he intended to
drown himseif. He was not seen again aiive. Mellor worked in the
Derby cotton ruins. beside the canal. Of kite he had been despond-
ent over his failing health. He was sixty-t we years of age.
