the house is worth some or 38,000
The matter is the main topic of con-
versation in Newtown at present and
there is talk of getting up a :ctition to
the Comptroller of the state to aelt him
to investigate. There is nothing in the
law to prevent Mr. Northrop from
loaning the money to himself. but. as
the Newtown people say. his manipula~
tion of the fund is of doubtful proprie-
ty. to say the least. Northrop's trio-nus
say there is nothingimproperin the
transaction and defy any one to prove
