ness of collecting rare specimens of
these pretty trifles, some of which have
adorned the dresses of the wives and
daughters of the great chiefs of the
Sioux and Apaches tribes of Indians.
Among the rare charms received are
curious pieces of wampum or Indian
money, money Cowry which is found
on the coast of the Maldive Islands and
used as money in. Africa. This shell is
very ornamental as a watch charm. or
chain bangle and is very rare. The
sea shells are beautiful. Anyone de~
airing any should communicate with
Mrs. Warner. We ektend many thanks
to the lady and hope she will make a
success of this novel venture. .

Life Sentence for Double Illurder.
i New Haven, April 8.——Edw-ard A. Duff,
:who shot and killed his wifle and moth-
vifer-in-law, Mrs. Mary. McCarthy, here
two months ago, yesterday pleaded
”guilty to the charge of murder in the
{second degree. He was sentenced to'
life imprisonment.
Duff is about forty-five. His plea was
insanity, but by agreement with State
Attorney Williams he withdrew it and
pleaded guilty. TheState in turn mit-
igated 2thea'charg'e from murder in the
first to the second degree. , .
